Saturday 11th April 2015 - Married for 924 days

Where To Stay

*Before Friday*

There are many accommodation options available in Reykjavik in the run up to the wedding. We believe that the best and most economical option for people, when staying in Reykjavik, is to book a self-catering apartment. This gives the option to cook if people wish to to save on food costs and is what we did in 2011. There are lots of apartments available in Reykjavik though in the spirit of keeping everyone together we have reserved 21 apartments rooms, all in the same building. These will be enough for everyone.

***You do not need to book personally, once we have conformations rolling in, we can then sort out who goes in which rooms.***

The apartments we have reserved are of different sizes from studio to four bed, in a building called Downtown Reykjavik Apartments located near the main bus station 10 mins walk from the hip 101 district just off Laugavegur, Reykjavik's main shopping street. All the apartments have a daily maid service and feature a TV, wi-fi, modern kitchenette with oven, microwave, fridge as well as all the utensils you might need. The building has a lift and it's own car-park.

The details of the apartments are below, if you think that the dates will work for you then please do send us a message and we will keep one reserved. Payment can be settled nearer the time, any surplus apartments can be cancelled up to December if they are not needed.

Final details on costs will be worked out when numbers are finalised. You should expect to pay up to £70 per couple per night and is likely to be less than that in many cases e.g.; three in an apartment.

NB: All apartments except the standard studios have a double sofa bed.

More info and pics of the apartments can be seen at the following link:

If you want to stay elsewhere, that is up to you but we would both really like it we were all as close together as possible! If you absolutely do have to stay elsewhere, let us know and we won't hold a room for you.

We hope that if possible most of you will be able to make it out for Thursday onwards to join us for the Icelandic hen/stags dos, which are pencilled in for Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening respectively.

*Friday onwards*

We are heading to Hella in South Iceland, which is about 75 minutes by car, in preparation for the wedding festivities. Any one who is hiring a car is welcome to drive down. There is severely limited public transport on this route at this time of year. Everyone is welcome on the coach.

There are 20 rooms reserved for Friday 10th April in Hotel Ranga at the moment (approx £160 - £180 per night) and 34 rooms reserved for Saturday 11th, the night of the wedding. The number of rooms for Friday can will change. Everyone will stay with us on the Saturday night in Hotel Ranga.

***As above, please don't book any additional rooms at Hotel Ranga***

Other hotels are available close to Hotel Ranga, for the Friday, can be found on booking.com and are as follows;

Hotel Laekur - farm stay(approx £93 per night) - 10 mins drive from Hella
Hotel Hella- hotel (approx £58 per night) - in Hella
Cafe Arhus Hellu- guest house (approx £68 per night) - 15 mins drive from Hella
Hotel Kanslarinn- hotel (approx £68 per night) - in Hella

Please be aware that these hotels are much smaller than Hotel Ranga, they may have limited availability on the Friday. They are not within walking distance. We have some rooms held as a plan B if we have more guests than we are currently expecting.

If you have any concerns or questions then just give us a shout. We are hoping to make this as easy and affordable as possible for everyone, so anything we can do to help, please let us know!
